ZMAGIC Youth Programs
Through hands-on, S.T.E.M.-aligned art projects, children and teens explore creativity, responsibility, and problem-solving. Our ZMAGIC programs are designed to nurture diverse learners, encourage exploration, and empower the next generation with transferable skills through the arts.
INTRODUCTION to GHANIAN West African DRUMMING
Join us for a fun and welcoming class, designed for older adults, and children of all ages. Where we will focus on improving your comfort on the drums, including the djembe and the congas. Through the course of this workshop, the instructor will share many exercises used to increase power and dexterity on the hand drums. You will be taught rhythms from Ghana and West Africa. The class will introduce students to different time signatures, tempos and feelings . The ensemble playing will help the students learn how to play with one another and develop a discerning ear. No experience necessary. This class is designed for someone who has never played djembe before or has had very little experience, however, all older adults will be challenged at their level.

VISUAL ART INSTRUCTION
Structured, skill-building workshops in painting, drawing, mixed media, collage, pastels, watercolor, and acrylic. Designed for youth, adults, and seniors, our instruction combines technique with exploration, helping every participant unlock creative confidence — no matter their starting point.
ARTS FOR SENIORS PROGRAMS
Our Arts for Seniors Programs are designed for older adults ages fifty-five (55+) and older to come together paint in a relaxed atmosphere with great company to receive step-by-step instruction. No experience is necessary, and it’s always a casual, no pressure environment , do it at your own pace, and get your creative juices flowing. Our focus is to provide valuable community-based learning/healing experiences for our seniors. This art programs provides practical, theory-building foundations for art therapy with older adults. Regardless of past artistic experience, art therapy is an effective means of providing therapeutic care to older adult. In an overview of non-pharmacological approaches to healing, our art therapy program has been described as a treatment expected to improve the cognitive functioning of older adults by stabilizing emotions.
JEWELRY MAKING FOR SENIORS
A therapeutically creative jewelry making workshop for seniors that feels more like a party. During this Sparkly Seniors Jewelry Making "Party", seniors are taught to make Necklaces, bracelets, head bands, and much more. It’s not just the female seniors who enjoy these classes. This class is for all genders.
Each senior’s jewelry design will show the world that their inner sparkle hasn’t dulled one bit. Let’s not forget our dapper gentleman seniors! For those not interested in making ladies’ jewelry, the following alternatives are available: beaded book band, button tie clip, deck of cards bow tie or just enjoy learning about gemstones and metals. Seniors will also learn how to make gifts for their spouse, family or friends. Many just enjoy wearing their own creations.
